Round 4 | Victorian Hill Climb Championship

April 29, 2019

It rained… that pretty much sums it up in two words. I’m still not even a year into this little photographic journey of local Motorsports and rain is not really something I’ve ever prepared for. So without a rain cover that hadn’t hit my mailbox yet, and with a camera wrapped in a 15 cent woollies bag with some holes cut into it I managed to keep the gear dry enough to capture some of the action at Bryant Park.

Boy howdy was there a lot of action on the track. They may not have been going as fast as usual, but there was less grip than ever, which unfortunately lead to a couple of people cutting their day short after a mishap or two.

The rain for the first three runs kept the always fast Formula Libre classes at bay whilst the cars with some protection from the rain battled it out for what looked like a possible outright victory. The end of run three saw Daniel Leitner in his 2001 WRX at the top with a 86.30 around the clockwise double loop layout.

Fortunately for the open wheelers a final attack on a slightly drier track saw them blast past the field in the final run. With Garry Martin in his green Martin a16 2016 “Bullfrog” taking outright with a 79.80 the only sub 80 run.

Below are the photos from the event. As always, high res files/prints are available to purchase through the contact page.
