Throwing 1700kg of metal around Australian forest back roads is no easy feat, especially when it’s pumping out the power of a group B rally car. Whilst it doesn’t share the grace of a Delta S4, this car is planted and quick, meaning it sticks to the country roads, John Denver style!
This HSV Senator is packed with a 6.2L Supercharged LSA engine. Shared with the Camaro ZL1 in the USA. This motor boasts 410kw (580hp) and 580 torques! That’s the foot pound kind. Controlling all this power is quite easy, the suspension can be adjusted on the fly, so can the power steering response, and of course traction control can be turned off for that bit of extra fun!
All this is sent through to the tarmac via Continental tyres, and brought to a stop again with NASCAR influenced AP Racing brakes. The best thing about this car, is that the specs read like a Street Machine article, but it’s all from factory!
The brutal power train of the Senator is completely contrasted by the luxury interior. Leather, brushed leather, more leather. Five hours of driving was a dream today, cruising in luxury that you seem to forget about when you’re driving a little too fast through windy roads lined by trees.
Unfortunately hail storms cut our shoot a little short, but here is what we got!
